Down-Pole Operator System Now Available for the NOJA Power VISI-SWITCH®

Australian medium voltage switchgear engineers and manufacturer’s NOJA Power today confirm the availability of a Down Pole operator accessory for their solid dielectric insulated load break switch, known as the NOJA Power VISI-SWITCH®.

A down pole operator accessory is a mechanism which brings the actuation lever of the pole top switchgear to a point further down the power pole.

This allows utilities to reduce the distance that operators need to reach with hot-sticks to actuate the NOJA Power VISI-SWITCH® into closed and open positions. It also allows utilities who elect to install the NOJA Power VISI-SWITCH® above the overhead lines to bring the actuation point below the powerlines, removing the need for operators to fit a hotstick between the lines to reach the switchgear operating lever.

The down pole operator accessory is available as a standalone accessory for existing NOJA Power VISI-SWITCH® operators, or as a supply option when purchasing a new NOJA Power VISI-SWITCH®.

NOJA Power’s VISI-SWITCH® is the world’s first solid dielectric insulated load break switch with integrated visible isolation. The isolator is visible through a viewing window located in the load-side switchgear bushing, offering operators visual confirmation of a compliant isolation point, while enclosing the isolator and providing improved reliability.

The device is an SF6 free alternative to existing polluting technology deployed for load break switch applications, without the reliability disadvantages of open air-break switch devices.

“The NOJA Power VISI-SWITCH is the ideal solution to eliminate the use of SF6 gas load break switches which is on the agenda of almost all of our electricity utility customers today,” says NOJA Power Group Managing Director Neil O'Sullivan.
