Australian engineering firm NOJA Power today announce the certification of their GMK Switchgear to AS1170.2 Wind Loading for Category Region D – assuring product application to areas subject to 270 kph (167 mph) wind load.

The GMK Product is used in applications traditionally reserved for straight-through RMUs, as it offers integrated metering, protection and earthing requirements without the use of SF6 gas. This makes the product ideal for connecting renewable generation and distributed energy resources to the distribution grid up to 38 kV.

NOJA Power’s GMK Product has been installed across multiple continents worldwide, but first installations in cyclone prone regions prompted engineering certification for suitability in these regions.

The engineering certification could be used as compliance evidence in other regions subject to tropical storms, including Central and North America subject to hurricanes and South East Asian typhoons.

“The GMK product is now available with a customised concrete base with cable entry cast into the base to simplify wind rating compliance,” says NOJA Power Group Managing Director Neil O’Sullivan.
