Type Testing Proves Reliability Of Recloser Components |

NOJA Power continuously revises its designs to ensure they are of the highest quality. Whenever a change is made, or a new design is introduced, type tests are conducted to verify the design. These tests are often in addition to the extensive list of independent testing already conducted as standard practice. This commitment to quality is the reason our products have a reputation for in-service reliability. Recently NOJA Power conducted salt fog tests on new OSM bushings to verify their longevity and resistance to harsh environments. The test was conducted according to the requirements of IEC1109 by the Queensland University of Technology in Brisbane, Australia. To conduct the test the bushings were placed inside a fog chamber to simulate wet and polluted conditions. Ultrasonic fog generators were used to generate a dense mist which was then circulated through the chamber. The fog was generated from a saline solution consisting of sodium chloride and de-ionised water. The bushings were then energised to their rated system voltages and kept in the fog for in excess of 1000 hours. |
Every bushing passed the test and valuable data was gained for future developments. |
