Compact Size Allows Versatile Installations |
|||
Utility line crews do not always have the luxury of mounting reclosers in new distribution lines where mounting methods can be fully controlled. The reality is most reclosers are installed in existing networks where ancilliary equipment, low voltage lines and telecom cables may have proliferated over the years. An ideal answer to this situation is to use the compact and lightweight OSM recloser. The OSM weighs less than 85kg and takes up minimal space on the pole. This makes it possible to fit in between medium and low voltage lines as shown in the photo opposite. This situation is common where reclosers are placed into built-up areas in cities. Not only can the OSM be fitted into tight situations such as these, it is also very unobtrusive and blends well into the surroundings. This is an advantage in cities where the character of the area would be compromised by a large, bulky, piece of switchgear mounted on a pole. |
The result is significant installation cost savings due to the ease of which the OSM can be situated onto existing structures. This can be achieved without the need to replace poles or rework structures as required for larger alternatives. |

Integral Energy Awards 3 Year Contract For Supply Of OSM RecloserIntegral Energy recently awarded a 3 year supply contract in favour of the OSM 15 ACR, for their 12kV Automatic Circuit Recloser requirements. Integral Energy is one of the largest State Owned Energy Corporations in NSW, Australia. They distribute and retail electricity to approximately 807,000 customers in a network spanning 24,500kms² in greater Western Sydney, Illawarra and the Southern highlands region. The OSM Recloser will be installed throughout the 11 kV distribution network and will interface back to Integral Energy's SCADA control system using the onboard RTU and DNP3 communications protocol. Integral Energy will take advantage of the user selectable and configurable DNP3 - ID feature, supplied as standard on the OSM Recloser. The primary communication medium will be UHF Radio. During the tender evaluation process Integral Energy conducted comprehensive testing on the OSM product both from a protection and communications perspective before making the decision to proceed with an award. |
TELUS Version 103 ReleasedVersion 103 of TELUS is now available. TELUS is a software
package designed to configure every aspect of the OSM recloser's
operation. It is also used to retrieve event and fault data.
Changes include:
TELUS is an essential tool for the protection and SCADA engineer. Protection design is simplified through the use of a graphical curve modification tool. Fault analysis can be conducted using data recorded by the recloser. SCADA integration is easy using DNP3 point mapping tools and the ability to configure nearly every aspect of the communications interface. The TELUS software package enables electrical utilities to integrate the OSM recloser into their existing networks with minimal fuss. |
